About Us
Our History
In 1989, in the North Eastern region of India, two small groups of young men and women decided to give up their professional careers and dedicate themselves to a cause that would have everlasting impact to this region and ultimately draw international attention. One group focussed on the preservation of the unique and fragile biodiversity of this remote part of the world. The other decided to help impoverished remote communities economically by setting up home stays for travellers from all over the world to come and enjoy life with them. Today twenty years on Green Frontier is proud to be associated with one of the most reputed conservation organizations in Asia and one of the most successful eco-tourist partners in India.
Our Origins
We live on the only planet known to have life, and we are aware that the gradual loss of species is taking us towards an irreversible process of extinction. Conservation International has identified 25 regions in this planet that host the highest diversity of species. They account for only 1.4% of the land surface of this planet and over 60% of the Earths biodiversity. Each of these is in danger of disappearing and that is why they have become critical for maintaining life on earth. One of these is situated in North East India which also hosts one of the most demographic diversities in the world – an area roughly the size of Washington, Oregon and Utah hosts about 220 languages.
Our Commitment
Green Frontier is actively involved in volunteering, donating and sponsoring the largest conservation Non-Profit Organization in North East India. This organization named ‘Aaranyak’ has earned national and international laurels in its efforts to preserve endangered wildlife and habitat in the Eastern Himalaya Hotspot. It has been working with communities and tribes in the North East region of India since 1989 to create awareness amongst local communities, assisting them economically to earn alternate livelihoods and preserve forests and wildlife. Green Frontier and Community involvement
Since 1991 our affiliate partners in India have been working tireless with remote mountain communities – establishing eco-resorts and imparting training to local villagers set up infrastructure. Trained villagers who were previously poachers and hunters are now protecting national parks and forests and have become experts in bird and wildlife guiding. Every single trip circuit has a success story to relate and your travel dollar helps protect community sustain an economy which in turn fosters the preservation of precious and endangered wildlife and habitat. Green Frontier is proud to be a family of this initiative.
Our vision is the practical implementation of a happy marriage between ecotourism revenue and conservation of our biodiversity in a sustainable and responsible manner.
